Castnet is a New Orleans institution on Hayne Boulevard, where fresh seafood meets local tradition. We source our seafood directly from fishermen, who’ve supplied New Orleans kitchens for decades — and it’s served by a devoted team, many of whom have been here more than 35 years.
Hayne Boulevard was once bustling with fish camps and family seafood spots, where weekends meant crab boils, fried platters, and lakefront sunsets. Hurricanes and levee projects erased much of that history, but Castnet remains as one of the last surviving links to that tradition in New Orleans East.
For 38 years, Kent and Denise Bondi made Castnet Seafood a New Orleans East institution, built on a foundation of family, fresh Louisiana seafood, and unwavering community spirit. Now, as Kent and Denise pass the torch to native New Orleanians Alison and Drew Knoll, the legacy they built will continue with the same commitment to quality that has defined Castnet for generations.
Alison and Drew Knoll are honored to join this new family, embracing the seasoned, long-term staff whose hard work has been the heart and soul of Castnet Seafood for decades. Their dedication and expertise ensure that the familiar faces and legendary seafood you’ve come to know will remain a constant. The Knolls are not just taking over a business; they are joining a tradition and gaining more family members.
With deep roots in the city’s culinary world, including experience at Emeril’s restaurants and their own successful ventures like Vega Tapas and Station 6, Alison and Drew bring a passion for New Orleans food traditions. Drew’s extensive experience in the wholesale seafood business will further strengthen Castnet’s ability to provide the freshest, highest-quality product available—a core tradition of the business since 1988.
This is a smooth transition, built on trust and a shared vision. We are excited to continue serving the New Orleans East community, preserving the best of the past while looking forward to a vibrant future together.
We’re grateful to our customers and our devoted team. Together, you’ve made Castnet a place where locals and visitors alike can experience old-school New Orleans and enjoy the freshest seafood and traditional cooking that brings people together.

Wonderful find! Visited here with my family from South Dakota, we had no idea what the heck was going on, but the staff was so friendly and welcoming and the food was delicious! Very fresh and very generous portions. We (happily) but accidentally ordered twice as much food as we needed. Highly recommend stopping!

A family favorite. We’ve gotten poboys and plate food for Castnet ever since I can remember. The staff is always friendly and the food is always fresh. If you want to skip the line, call ahead and order. There’s also a large parking lot to the side for super busy times.
